Overview
Purbanchal University was established in 1993 located at Gothgaun Sundar Haraicha, Morang Nepal. The Government of Nepal imagined this as an extraordinary achievement for creating an academic centre of excellence in the Eastern Development Region of Nepal. Its prime role was outlined to act as a catalytic agent for the promotion of socio-economic transformation in Nepal through quality education appropriate for quality life and a sustainable future. Since its establishment, the university is motivated by its fundamental objective of preserving, refining, inventing, adapting, extending and transmitting knowledge in an environment that fosters free enquiry and open scholarly debate, leading to the all-encompassing development of the rural people and their economies and environment.

Bachelor in Social Work (BSW) offered by Purbanchal University (PU)
With the Bachelor in Social Work (BSW) trained and qualified specialists in the field of social work are to be produced, who convey socially relevant knowledge, meaningfulness and diverse possibilities to the students. The program BSW encompasses a wide range of theoretical concepts and practical skills. The curriculum of this program prepares graduates to apply a collaborative helping process at various levels, ranging from individuals to communities.
BSW is a 4-year Undergraduate level Degree with a semester System of 90 Credit hours. Topics related to human rights, gender, children’s right and juvenile justice are the curriculum covered in BSW Program. To successfully complete this program, the student must take subjects as Social Practice and Skills Lab, Academic English, Human Growth and Behavior, Social Case Work, Sociology, History and Philosophy, Introduction to Nepalese Society, Psychiatry, Neighborhood Camp, Community Organization and Social Action.
Objectives
The main objective of a Bachelor of Social Work(BSW) Degree is
- To provide students with the basic knowledge required for understanding others’ behaviour.
- To make them realize their responsibility toward the community.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students wishing to earn this degree must graduate +2 in any faculty/ Board/ University movement.
- Passing the 12th Grade in any discipline (Natural Science/ Administration/ Humanities)
